hokuton_punchHello, and welcome to the Seven Days of Marathon fest!
The idea behind this fest is to celebrate a trilogy of games we all love in whatever way we can, whether that's writing, drawing, composing music, l337 Photoshop skills, telling a story with photos of figurines, coding maps, or just inspiring others.
Basic Rules:
1. Treat other participants with respect.
2. Have fun and create stuff.
3. Frog blast the vent core!!
Schedule (Summer Round):
Prompting Open—May 1st through May 15th
Prompt List/Schedule Announced—May 16th
Posting Fills—July 1st through July 7th (Bungie Day)
Amnesty Period—July 8th through July 14th
How It Works:
1. Prompt on the Prompting Post or check out others' prompts for inspiration.
2. Pick one or more prompts from the prompt list/prompt post, or use ideas of your own.
3. Create at least one work (fic, art, edit, music, etc.) for the prompt(s)/idea(s) at any time between now and when posting begins on July 1st.
4. Post it to the site of your choice (DeviantART, Youtube, AO3, Tumblr, Twitter, etc.) on one of the posting days (July 1st–7th) or in the amnesty period (July 8th–July 14th).
5a. If you have a Dreamwidth account, post to the community using the posting template in the Rules Post.
5b. If you do not have a Dreamwidth account, please comment anonymously, using the posting template in the Rules Post, on any of the prompt list posts that will be posted to the community on the posting days.
6. Enjoy the warm glow of participation! And maybe spread it around by checking out what other people have shared.
Prompting:
A prompting post will be created and open to all (anonymous contributors included) from May 1st through May 15th. Prompts can be as broad and general or as specific as you would like to make them. Prompts are guidelines and ideas for everyone to use or not and are not guaranteed to be filled. Combining more than one prompt is welcome and encouraged! Your contributions do not need to be inspired by any of the prompts, but if you do use any prompts for inspiration, please mention the prompt(s) in your post and credit the prompter(s).
What's Allowed:
Any kind of fanwork that you created yourself! This includes writing (fic, poetry, canon analysis/meta), art, music (remixes/covers, original Marathon-themed music, filks, fanmixes), edits (gifs or gifsets, manips, moodboards, icons), vids (speedrunning, Let's Play-style vids, animatics), fan maps (netmaps, solo maps, fan scenarios), crafts (pipe-cleaner Pfhor, stuffed S'pht, Lego Drinniol), interactive fiction, and anything else you can think of that I can't.
Please DO NOT repost something that you, personally, did not create or put together unless you a) have permission from the original creator AND credit the original creator.
It's perfectly fine to re-create an older project that you feel you can make a better version of now or to use an old/partial idea that you have not posted completed/in its entirety elsewhere, but as the idea is to create new fanworks specifically for the fest, please don't simply repost something that you have already finished unless it is something that you have not shared elsewhere on the internet.
